Help Defend Your Right to Receive Compounded Veterinary Medications!

You may not be able to get the medications that your animals need!
We have a small dog named Sadie. Last year she contracted Valley Fever. We found a place here in Peoria that compounds medication and they saved her life. We can get the medication for around $15.00 a bottle. If this goes through, her medication could jump to $800.00. This needs your immediate attention.

The Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), U.S. FDA has issued a Compliance Policy Guide (CPG) which threatens pharmacists ability to formulate many medications for veterinary patients (pets).

In violation of FDA Good Guidance Practices, CVM issued this CPG in final form without allowing an opportunity for comments. FDA's prohibition against compounding from bulk active pharmaceuticals is extremely problematic. If this proceeds, you will be unable to order compounded medications for your animals'; needs. It is essential that pharmacists be allowed to compound for non-food producing animals from bulk drug substances.

You can help fight this CPG in the following way:

1. Have you and your friends fill out a copy of the attached form letter and fax it to all 4 of the people listed at the top of the letter.

2. Fax a copy of your letter to Dr. Michael Chaddock, Director of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association). Fax Number (202) 842-4360.

Working together, we can protect our pets' compounded pharmaceutical needs. If you have any questions or need help, please call Nina at 1-800-699-8143, ext. 174.
