The following tips are ones that people pass on to us and we feel that it is important to pass them along to you. We are not the final word, by any means. So take this information and if there is a tip that interests you, research it and check it out. Then use is and see if it works for you. If so spread it around and improve the lives of the people you know.

We look these over closely before we put them up, but we are not responsible for any errors of any kind. Have fun and let us know if you have any wonderful things to pass on to others.

Carbo Information:

For you carb conscious eaters out there... Garlic contains 1 gram of carbohydrates per clove. Read about the other vitamins and minerals contained in this wonder herb by clicking on the "Down with High Blood Pressure" article on our Important Articles page.

Organic Information:

Here's a little tip that was given to us by one of our customers. When you are in the store and want your organic fruit and vegetables all you have to do is look at the code that is on the product. If it starts with a 9 then you are getting organic. If it starts wit an 8 it is GMO. (STAY AWAY FROM THE 8'S) If it starts with any another other number then it is conventionally grown. Nice of them to let us know.

Plastic Information:

Plastic is always an issue. It puts out toxins. And we use it with our food. So here is a plastic tip that you can look into. It was given out by Organic Lifestyle Magazine.

Look at the last number in the bar code on the package. Look for a #4 in sandwich bags. Look for a #5 in plastic containers. Stay away from #3, #6 and #7.

You also want to stay away from PVC in plastic wrap.

The recommendations are Glad Cling Wrap, Glad Plastic Bags and Zip Lock Freezer Bags.

The Dirty Dozen:

We always recommend eating organic when ever possible. We also understand that it can be more expensive. So we have a list of fruits and vegetables known as the dirty dozen that was also provided by Organic Lifestyle Magazine. These are the ones that contain the highest amounts of chemicals and pesticides and should be bought organic only. Particularly if you are serving these foods to children.

1. Peaches
2. Strawberries
3. Apples
4. Spinach
5. Celery
6. Nectarines
7. Pears
8. Cherries
9. Potatoes
10. Sweet Bell Peppers
11. Raspberries
12. Imported Grapes

So do your best to try and avoid these items except in their organic form. We are and it really hasn't added a lot to our food budget. Pay a little more at the store or pay at the doctors office later.

The Cleaner Dirty Dozen:

Here are some reported better options for you. This list of a dozen products don't hold the pesticides or they aren't spayed as much or whatever farmers do... But if you have to buy conventionally grown then try to stick to these:

1. Sweet Corn
2. Avocados
3. Pineapple
4. Cauliflower
5. Mango
6. Sweet Peas
7. Asparagus
8. Onions
9. Broccoli
10. Bananas
11. Kiwi
12. Papayas

Once again, keep in mind that this is information to research and we are not the original source. We have placed this list here for you to become aware of the foods that you put into your mouth and whatthey consist of.
